2008 Sydney Product Expo Wrap Up
Added 14/10/08

Friday 19th September at the Royal Randwick Racecourse, Sydney!

Blessed with a perfect day of 27 degrees and trackside at Randwick Racecourse -this could have been mistaken for an ideal day for the races! It was however superb conditions for the 2008 Omnitech Sydney Product Expo.

Guests arrived and registered at 10am and received their expo showbags; filled with goodies such as the latest edition of Omnitech’s PLAY brochure, coffee mug, pen, lollies and the very popular 1GB USB memory stick! Guests settled into the Shannon Room with scrumptious scones, jam and cream and a welcoming cup of tea or coffee.

Black-out curtains, created an atmosphere of suspense and excitement in the room, as the equipment outside was kept under wraps. Clips of recent Omnitech installations ran on the big screens around the room; those usually televising the odd horse race or two.
Anthony Millington, National Sales Manager for Omnitech, kicked off the day with a brief history and update on Omnitech Services and Omnitech’s focus for the future.

Billy Joyce (PlayPower Inc, USA) and Marie Jonsson (HAGS, Sweden) provided entertaining and informative presentations covering topics such as the PlayPower group of companies, play value, environmental considerations in product development and information about their representative products on display.

Finally the suspense was over, the curtains opened and the equipment revealed. Guests made their way down the red carpet onto the Shannon Lawn to view the large range of equipment on display. With Omnitech staff on hand to answer questions and provide in-depth information, guests were able to see the various materials, design concepts, colour schemes and age ranges of equipment from Omnitech’s vast product range.  With over $200,000 worth of International and local equipment on display, guests were blown away by the enormity of the Omnitech ranges. The new SMP Zingo, HAGS UniPlay Balakolo, Nexus Core and HAGS Agito Dolce were all popular draw cards on the day.  Many guests also took up the opportunity of the fantastic expo equipment discounts.

A lavish gourmet BBQ lunch was served trackside, with round tables and umbrellas setting a relaxing ambient mood for guests, staff and speakers to interact and discuss the surrounding equipment.

Back inside at the afternoon session, Clive Dodd (Consulting Coordination) spoke about understanding the different roles in the management of playground safety. This session opened up to the floor creating an interactive group discussion on the topics. Paul Ward, Managing Director of Omnitech Services, then wrapped up the expo formalities with the competition draw. Congratulation to Warwick Brown from Ku-ring-gai Council who won the Triple Infinity Climber valued at $7,200 and to Ed French from Gympie Regional Council who won the HAGS See Saw valued at $3,600. Also congratulations to Jarrod Young from Cessnock City Council who won the door prize hamper valued at $250.

Guests then made their way back outside into the glorious sunshine for another look at the equipment showcase, whilst enjoying savoury tarts, cheese platters and a cold beverage.

Omnitech would like to thank all guests who attended and hope that you found the day both enjoyable and informative.
